OBJECTIVE OF RENATURE: The objective of Renature is to be the player with the most points when the game comes to an end. 

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 2 to 4 Players 

MATERIALS: 1 Gameboard, 1 Joker Marker, 30 Cloud Tokens, 4 Score Markers, 21 Area Tokens, 74 Plants, 55 Dominoes, 4 Player Boards, and Instructions 

TYPE OF GAME: Area Control Board Game 

AUDIENCE: Ages 8 and Up 

OVERVIEW OF RENATURE 

In a polluted valley, the players attempt to help mother nature survive, and take back what is rightfully hers. The players place various dominoes, reintroducing species back to the land. The player who accumulates the most points, wins the game! 

SETUP 

Place the gameboard in the center of the playing area. If you are playing with three to four players, then each player will then choose a color to represent them, collecting a board and balloon of that color. If you are playing with only two players, then one player will take the board with the black paraglider, and the other player will take the board with the white paraglider.  

The players will cover the plant spaces on their board with a plant that matches. Any leftover plants are placed back in the box. The joker marker is placed on the butterfly space found on the side of the joker track. The area tokens are shuffled and placed randomly on each area. Place the cloud tokens on the assigned spaces, ensuring that the number of tokens matches the space.  

The players will place a cloud token on all of the cloud spaces found on their boards. The dominoes are then shuffled and dealt to the players. In a four-player game, each player will have thirteen, eighteen in a three-player game, and twenty-six in a two-player game. The players will place them beside their board, face down, creating their reserve. The last player to go on a walk will become the first player. They will place their score marker on the fourth space of the score track. Continuing clockwise around the group, they will place their score tracker one space lower than the player prior to them. The game is then ready to begin! 

GAMEPLAY 

Gameplay will proceed clockwise around the group, with each player taking one turn until none of the players have any dominoes remaining. During their turn, a player will complete the following four actions, in order: place a domino, place a plant, score points, and refill their hand. Players are also permitted to spend cloud tokens during their during if they would like.  

When placing a domino, the player will place one of the dominoes in their hand face up on the board. The two halves of the domino must cover an unoccupied brook space, without interrupting other areas of the board or going past the grid. Once the player has placed their domino, they can place a plant on a free area found beside the domino. If the player is unable to place a plant, they can skip, but if they are able to, they will then score the plant that they placed. The players earn one point for their placed plant and one point for every plant that is lower in value in that area. Players will then score for any areas that they have earned.  

After the player has scored all that they can, they may complete cloud actions if they want. The cloud actions cost cloud tokens, and they may only be completed during the player’s turn. After they have finished all of their prior actions, the players will refresh their hand with a domino from their reserve. The next player will then begin their turn.  

END OF GAME 

Once all of the players run out of dominoes, the game comes to an end. Scoring will then occur. Areas with area tokens are scored first, and the scoring is completed as described on the yellow framed section. After that, cloud tokens and area tokens are scored. The players will lose points for plants that are on their boards.
